The DfT. Those trains don't make money. Not running them is a cost saving on paper.
Same with Nottingham to Crewe, where despite the trains being far busier than they ever were previously carrying a reasonable amount of long distance traffic and having had an hourly service all day for decades...
Rural taxis are rural taxis. Sometimes you just can't get one.
Taxi firms also like to pick and choose their work and won't accept being forced to prioritise railway work with the exception of some prebooked stuff moving traincrew about, especially little one horse firms with an owner driver...
Nothing unusual. People right up to the Managing Director grade are known to at least read railway social media, if not always actively contributing. I once had a fairly senior manager tell me how much they liked one of my postings
Yes, but you're talking about a 10 car LNER Azuma not a Cross Country service so that has nothing at all to do with anything. Your best chance is a train that carries on to Harrogate, Bradford or Skipton provided you're in the right portion of the train. Even then they're unlikely to do a...
Guard is a rulebook role on the railway undertaken by a person as part of their job. Part of my job as a Senior Conductor is being the Guard on a train. That isn't the only part of my job though - checking tickets, providing customer service, tidying up and in my case training other staff also...

The days of yore where first class passengers were swooped upon for a brew or similar are gone. I'd not bother trying at all for Wakefield to Leeds, they've probably all packed away.
Same thing happened same place, same time yesterday with similar effects with the ferals currently reported to be enjoying throwing ballast at standing trains whilst running rings around the BTP who look a bit daft having failed to apprehend them having spotted them and then observed them...
No, I believe in being horrible to customers at all times, and am especially cruel to dogs and children.
My inference from the way the OP's post is written is that having referred to being bounced around they've had an acknowledgement etc but that they want more than that for whatever reason...
Who knows? I don't think anyone is "right". To have a guard is ultimately to err on the side of caution, I suppose. The view on whether that's necessary is personal. As a highly productive, efficient and talented guard ( :p ) I reckon I'm well worth my wages in all respects - but then I tend to...
