Who would be liable if thieves are injured or killed when stealing from railway premises?

An up to date risk assessment might assist railway in defending against intruder claims. However, trespassers who cut hole in fence etc present a big problem. I guess it's down to how often things like fences are checked (reasonable interval) and whether there have been recent reports from third...

My idea for train display screens to indicate if toilets are out of order

I would like to suggest that on-train side-facing displays are provided on future rolling stock to indicate whether there are working toilets on the train.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Ah, that makes sense. I noticed that they had cut through the steelwork? where the roof was attached to wall. You can actually see the cut off bits in my photo. I thought it odd if they were being refurbished to cut them off. Thanks, mystery solved.

The schematic 4.1.3b is correct regarding platform for existing layout for penistone trains. Schematics c 4.1.2b refers to a long disused platform arrangement now occupied by a 'mens group's including half a class 144.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Visited Huddersfield this morning. Didn't seem to be any work ongoing at ground (road) level in relation to bridge span which has been removed at Bradford side during this possession. The big crane has gone and all the bridge broken up and removed. I could not find a vantage point to see what's...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Mirfield today. Main platform 2 has been reduced in width and new slow line track installed next to it. I assume that they will continue to use platforms 1 & 3 (wooden one) until such time as original main platform 2 is usable. Then remove platform 3 and add two new fast lines???

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

The bridge at Bradford road huddersfield being worked on comprises a substantial central stone built section which presumably carries the existing double track and metal bridges either side which I believe used to carry the other two tracks. Is the plan to 1-remove one metal bridge (already...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I understand that the 'bridge deck' just to east of Huddersfield station is being replaced over next week or so. Is this the wide one near the George hotel with around 3 separate decks? Will all the separate decks be replaced, avoiding the awkward angle which constrains the east end of the station?

Could Irizar seats be used for trains?

Whilst on holiday, I've been on a coach today with seats made by Spanish company irizar. Take a look at their website www.irizar.com. The seats are comfortable and have decent padded cushions. Why on earth can't these or similar typed of seat be specified for rail use instead of bone hard ones...
