My idea for train display screens to indicate if toilets are out of order

I would like to suggest that on-train side-facing displays are provided on future rolling stock to indicate whether there are working toilets on the train.

Could Irizar seats be used for trains?

Whilst on holiday, I've been on a coach today with seats made by Spanish company irizar. Take a look at their website www.irizar.com. The seats are comfortable and have decent padded cushions. Why on earth can't these or similar typed of seat be specified for rail use instead of bone hard ones...

    Potential fix for Ordsall Chord?

What would be the effect of closing one or both of Oxford road and Deansgate? Three heavy rail stations including Piccadilly seems a tad generous in such a short distance. More like tram network.

    HS2 High Salaries - Value?

HS2 has employed some of the most highly paid public sector directors, senior staff, project managers, technical experts etc. There appears to have been some poor decision-making, poor cost control matched by commensurate ability to move on having got their coin before the sh"* hits the fan...

    Strikes 2nd September

My wife and I have advance tickets purchased through lner. 2nd class on northern hudds/ EMR sheffield / -st pancras Saturday 2nd Sept which may well be strike affected. We are attending a gala dinner and have to be there on time, so catching a later train isn't possible. We return the following...

EV chargers -sales tax on manufacturers

Many EV car makers appear to be gouging the public (Tesla cutting £6k off price and still making good profits and others able to follow), whilst legacy still making good profits on Non-evs). Why not have a levy on the manufacturers to pay for EV chargers so that there are a reasonable number...

Should private jet flights be banned?

Yes, I believe they are far less friendly to the environment. When I hear the BBC have correspondents in countries yet fly an expert roving reporter out so he can say it's a fire etc which any Muppet could say.

    Balanced financial news coverage

I am fed up of listening to radio 4, TV and reading other news media where there appears to be a constant diet of stories saying everything needs more money spending on it. Pay, NHS, sewerage, water, trains, defence, education, immigration etc. What I don't see on the news is how we are going...

    Stupid Motorway. Speed restrictions.

Uphill stretch of M21 motorway approaching Barnsley turnoff Traffic approaches bottom m of hill at 60-70mph. Warnings of congestion. Speed limit reduced to 40mph. Result congestion. There is no congestion, it is a product of traffic moving at 70moh being told to travel at 40 mph, this reducing...

What would the timing be for an hourly Liverpool to Newcastle only stopping at Manchester, Leeds and York?

HS2 - Sommerstown instead of Euston?

If the terribly ugly (in my opinion) nation nal library was knocked down and relocated, why not have the old Sommerstown goods yard as the main HS2 station adjacent to st pancras and kings cross, with a through connection to HS1??

HS2 through trains on Elizabeth line?

Whilst there may be lots of issues, if HS2 at Old Oak Common was linked to Elizabeth line and compatible train sets used. Could some HS2 trains run through to far end of Elizabeth line with enlarged station there?

    EV chargers

There has been a lot of talk about lack of public EV chargers and the cost of both public and private chargers. Forgive me, but individuals who can afford an EV at anything from £28k to £100k should not be being subsidised by taxpayers and or council tax payers who not only can't afford a new...

    Reopen Manchester Central?

Would reopening Manchester Central providing additional platforms for terminating services help to take pressure off Piccadilly? (I am aware of its current use, but hell it's just an empty exhibition space).

    Preventative Medicine etc

Health professionals (and Keir Starmer now) are keen to spend more money on preventative Medicine. Now initially that seems like a good idea as people will theoretically need less complex treatments if caught early. Furthermore people might lead a longer painless and happier life. This, the...

    Poor or no rear vision

Many vehicles have significant blind spots where they can't see what's behind. Some vehicles actually have notice saying they can't see you. Surely in the age of cheap cameras NO vehicle should be considered roadworthy unless there is a clear view of the rear and sides?

    Undertaking on roads

In the states, as far as I remember, undertaking is allowed at least on interstates. This has never been allowed in UK as its claimed to be dangerous. However, cyclists do seem to be allowed to do this particularly when there is a traffic is slow moving. A bicycle is far harder to see than a...

    Couchettes or roomettes

Would these far cheaper options be a more economic solution or additional option to sleepers?
