Does LU have a problem accepting cash at present or is this a trial?

As it happens the existing Pin Entry Devices are to be removed (possibly starting in about 6 months or so) and TfL/Cubic are currently investigating how to integrate their preferred replacements (which will have contactless functionality) with the ticket machines. Details are on page 16 of TRU150.

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

Bramley depot will take on another 22 electric double-deckers as the West Yorkshire ZEBRA 1 pot rose by £3.4 million after a successful variation request to the DfT; First Bus will contribute £7.8 million on top of that. I think this replaces another operator's (Transdev Blazefield?) share of 17...

PAYG caps beyond London zones (2024)

I'm not sure if this is a recent development, but contactless PAYG caps for journeys to/from stations beyond the zones are now listed on the National Rail site, including stations that TfL have overlooked for some time (link for comparison)...

    Hydrogen bus deployment challenges

It's been noted on this forum quite a few times now, so I figured it merited its own thread now that Route One have published an article on the topic. https://www.route-one.net/bus/fuel-supply-brings-challenges-for-more-hydrogen-bus-deployment/

No fewer than 10 break clauses invoked in the latest tender programme update - most of them by Stagecoach, plus Go-Ahead and Transport UK. All the big operators have now done so. Source: https://tangytango.proboards.com/thread/13032/tendering-programme-update-13-2024 (forum members only; not...

Barcode readers are now being rolled out on buses, starting with the Oxfordshire / Merseyside and South Lancashire operations. https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/national/ticket-qr-readers I'm not sure what the above model is, but on East buses - those on the MK1 at least -...

London Underground ticket machines using old National Rail fares?

Going by the tenor of this thread, am I right in saying Cubic not being awarded the next Revenue Collection Contract (commencing September 2026) - if that comes to pass - would be a major shock?

    24 registration buses and coaches

Fair point. I didn't think they'd leave it that long to register (one of) them post-homologation.
