    Bowes Railway

I live locally, but I would never think of visiting wthout checking first as opening has been sporadic for years. It used to be open every weekend when I was a teenager in the 1980's and new cafe / shop was built and a large public carpark. There was also the extension to Wrekenton incinerator...

What defines a heritage railway (as opposed to a fairground ride)

Also the Great Yarmouth Scenic Railway has some colour light signals, whichs makes it even more real railwayish and adds to your argument.

Where can I find a list of all UK train stations with platform lengths?

and do you mean just the regularly used / accessible / painted / fenced main length of platforms or those interesting derelict end bits on many stations which would often add considerably to the length?

Heavy rain forecast for Cumbria & Scotland (28/10-30/10) - rail services will be affected.

While mainline operators are panicking, I believe services on the Eden Valley Railway at Warcop, Cumbria will be operating as normal on Sunday (last chance to ride this year)

I did the LNER TYne Valley Autumn diversions in 2 recent years 2017 and 2018 I think and just simply bought a day return from Newcastle to Carlisle, the trains were certainly in the timetable and stopped / doors opened etc, has something changed? Both years though it was mainly HST's with a...

    Sunderland Station Improvements

I think it would make great sense to bring back the other island platform so making 4 platforms. Not sure I agree with what someone said about the old concourse dating from the 1970's - this is the best bit, light and airy although some tacky 'improvements' have been made. What needs to go is...

When were the Bridlington Excursion platforms last used?

Hmm I see what you mean, the platforms and track are still there on Google Maps although I was recently looking at the Bridlington station photos available on flickr and one showed the excursion platforms but had this text: "Platform 7 was still in use in 2000, but 8 had become redundant by...

Prototype HST Power Car 41001 to return to York

But hadn't the 125 group painted all their coaches to match the prototype? So surely they will all have to repainted to match a production 'loco' (43) if they get one.

LNER Diversions Tyne Valley Line (2019)

Can someone confirm whether the diversions will run on some Sundays as mentioned further up the thread as conflicting posts say Saturdays only thanks NB it may be that there is also no service Newcastle-Berwick-Edinburgh on Sundays but there are just bus replacements rather than proper diversions.
