Grand Central apply to serve Seaham

A quick table top exercise I've just done has established they can do this without needing any more units in service each day. Most of the GC units only do one return trip per day at the moment.

Lumo applies to operate Rochdale - London

Someone who's watched the Uber Trains advert

Lumo applies to operate Rochdale - London

Thank you! Absolutely no way that the members proposed Lumo service to Bradford would be a significant time saver or wouldn't be abstractive then. I was starting to wonder if I used the same line/services as this member was on about!

How much time does it save?

Shunter going mainline but would another TOC be interested as you can’t do the apprenticeship again?

They did once and weren't happy that the training took longer than planned and some of the staff weren't trained their own way and had "different/better" ways of doing things. Last I heard they weren't planning to take on any more qualified drivers as a result of this, however that may...

Shunter going mainline but would another TOC be interested as you can’t do the apprenticeship again?

Correct, you don't need to do the assessments again as you already have an EU licence.

Shunter going mainline but would another TOC be interested as you can’t do the apprenticeship again?

GA and c2c no longer have this. I don't know any TOC/FOC that still has line of progression. At c2c shunters can apply internally but need to take an extra additional test compared to the street to seat drivers. GA make you resign from your shunter position and start a new contract/position as a...

    Formula 1

It looks like maybe, possibly, hopefully there might be some competition from a few races time! We can only hope.

Shunter going mainline but would another TOC be interested as you can’t do the apprenticeship again?

It used to be the case that you could move to another TOC/FOC without doing psychometrics etc agan but you'd need to do the street to seat course. I was offered this myself but ended up not starting with them. I think you'd have more luck with companies than don't do the apprenticeship. And as...

Lumo applies to operate Rochdale - London

Am I missing something really obvious about this idea? Will it take a different route to the Northern services? Bradford has 2 trains and hour to Manchester every day of the week. They take between 50 and 56 minutes, and call at 5 stations after Halifax. Even running non-stop from Bradford...

Lumo applies to operate Rochdale - London

Personally, I rarely use any station on that route between apart from Bradford and Manchester, so if I could have my own way I would close them all, increase linespeed to 125 and have trains running directly from Bradford to Manchester non-stop  (sarcasm) My point was that skipping...

Severn Valley Diesel Gala 2024 16th-19th May

Normally the same ones that sag CDL isn't needed and window hanging should be allowed because they "know what they're doing". 1716054995 Photos on Facebook show a police attendance.

Lumo applies to operate Rochdale - London

A route that already has 2 trains per hour from Leeds that take 45 minutes from Halifax to Manchester. I'd love a faster service to Manchester but the way to do it isn't by skipping two stations that Northern call at, but by raising the linespeed and other infrastructure improvements.

Lumo applies to operate Rochdale - London

Indeed. There's also the big question mark over the Grand Central fleet after 2027. While not part of First it's something I'd imagine a ROSCO and train builder would take into consideration if GC were looking for new trains.

Proposal to decrease minimum train driver age

Because I work in the industry. I know of courses that have run with less people than desired due to lack of suitable candidates, and I also know of people who failed DMI having the decision reversed at a later date. I also know one TOC I used to work for lowered their pass mark from enhanced...

Proposal to decrease minimum train driver age

This is the second time I've seen this said in this thread. In my experience between 2-4% of applicants actually pass everything and then pass out. There's no shortage of applicants but there is a shortage of competent applicants.

Train stopping short & doors been opened

I beg of you to visit Low Moor in person when a longer service is stopping there. 1715342092 Yes I didn't mean all enthusiasts or spotters - but I have found myself dealing with train faults in the past and spotters shoving their cameras in body end cupboards I've opened and isolating doors...

Train stopping short & doors been opened

May I gently remind people on here of the issues spotters have caused in the past with their knowledge, especially when they get hold of keys etc. There is a reason that even the FOI Act has restrictions on what can be shared.
