Train terminated short, which delay repay option to choose?

Well I had an email from WMR this morning asking for more information, being “time of train”, however the only options to pick from were Single/Return/Advance etc, so I selected Advance but the system seemed to get stuck in a loop and wouldn’t let me proceed. Eventually by backtracking and...

Train terminated short, which delay repay option to choose?

Thank you, I must admit WMR are pretty efficient with their DR claims, once we've worked out what to put.

Train terminated short, which delay repay option to choose?

Sorry I did mean compensation. My mistake. I didn't want to complicate it by saying I was only going to South Parkway, where Avanti don't stop. But in any case, when the guard came through checking tickets and advising us, and saw my ticket says "specified trains & WMR/LNR connections" it was...

Train terminated short, which delay repay option to choose?

A bit similar to the "too full to board" thread - today my LNR from Birmingham to Liverpool was terminated at Crewe due to a train fault. Those of us with operator specific tickets had to wait an hour for the next BHM-LIV service, which arrived at final destination about eight minutes late...

Northern cancellations, Friday 24th May '24

I'm surmising that it wouldn't be economically viable for Northern to be offered a very generous lump payment like Avanti for working on a rest day? In any case they wouldn't be allowed to go against the ASLEF overtime ban I suppose? Forgive any ignorance demonstrated above, I'm just a passenger.

Cancelled due to ‘a short notice change to the timetable’

You're not wrong (I had to look up the acronym!) - that's exactly what exasperates people, the cop-out excuse. It's funny how the timetable often seems to change back to the original one the next day, with no fanfare!

Cancelled due to ‘a short notice change to the timetable’

Northern currently showing 251 o_O cancellations today. Have spot-checked a few and every one is "due to a short notice change to the timetable". It's embarrassing, and must bewilder any overseas visitors who aren't familiar with the information system here.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Last time I flew you still had to print out your boarding pass. Have they got scannable ones now?

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Ouch! To be fair I don't think I've said they are dreadful, just that I have a preference for the old style.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

The over 50s thing was because I perhaps mistakenly thought that would be about right for people who grew up with computers from childhood. Nothing to do with middle age/old age. Yes I am of an older persuasion, and have only really used trains regularly for 15 or so years, but transitioning...

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Don't know how to reply to individual points so I've numbered them... (1) I do use e-tickets for days out when I'm away somewhere and will only have a small bag to carry so will have a spare hand for the barriers. Typically Llandudno to Colwyn Bay and Scarborough to Bridlington, where barriers...

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Do these barcoded tickets also have the ordinary journey details printed on them? If you have several, is it easy to sort out which is which? 1716475043 Lol I'm an old timer and proud of it.

Not something you can slip in the card slot in your wallet then.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

I travel so frequently and always buy as soon as the cheap tickets become available, so I can collect CCST from the station for future journeys when arriving or departing from the current journey. No special trip needed. I appreciate that won't be the same for everyone.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

I realise I'm losing this argument, but I was under the false assumption that a major reason for e-ticketing instead of paper ticketing was for the railways to do their bit to contribute towards saving the planet by felling fewer trees to make paper tickets. I now realise I was wrong, and it's...

I can't believe we still have to say that not everyone has access to a printer.

    I wouldn't bank on it, he's 78 next month!

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

My comment about tickets for other people was related to people you’re not travelling with. Sorry I wasn’t clear about that. I’m married to a bit of a dinosaur with regard to technology so if he’s joining me later in the week (as he is now, I came up Monday and him yesterday) I buy him a paper...

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Could somebody do a poll on Twitter/X? Would be very interested in demonstrable percentages of preferences. How do businesses that purchase tickets for their employees get around this? One big drawback for me is having to be the owner of the phone on which the ticket is purchased (and yes...
