No ticket acceptance and no rail replacement during long term engineering works at Ince?

I don't think there's a problem that they haven't provided a RRB, but I do think it's very poor that no provision has been made for ticket acceptance on local buses and people are just expected to pay for bus travel separately.

    Eurovision 2024 discussion.

Yep they compete. I seem to recall it's becuase Eurovision is extremely popular in Australia so eventually for what was supposed to be a one off in 2015 for Eurovision's 60th anniversary they were allowed to compete. It went well enough that they've carried on competing since!

No ticket acceptance and no rail replacement during long term engineering works at Ince?

So Ince (Manchester) is due to close for a period of time to allow for electrification works from 2 June until later in 2024. This message appears on NRE: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/ince-manchester/ This feels a little dubious? Both Wigan stations aren't all that far away (though...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Quite, the economy has, in effect, flatlined. It is neither growing nor shrinking it's just bumbling around not doing much of anything. Yes, whilst I will happily dunk on the Tories and the right-wing media for couching the "recession" as a "Technical Recession" when I think we all know that if...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Depends who you listen to! Some Tories appear to be pretending that this is tremendous growth we're experiencing and yet I can recall when 2% was considered a bear minimum...

Oh sorry yes, I misunderstood and thought we were referring to British and Irish citizens!

    Eurostar collecting Advance Passenger Information

I believe photo ID is required in all cases but it does not need to be a passport. A provisional driving licence would suffice for example. Ryanair require a passport for flights in the Common Travel Area but I think they're the only operator who does, everyone else accepts government issued...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Personally speaking I'd rather spend the £1bn, if that is the cost, in increasing the capacity of the Home Office to process claims. To be fair, I think that this is beginning to happen and more caseworkers are being employed and will hopefully become productive (and more so) as time goes on...

Keir Starmer and the Labour Party

I've long maintained that Rishi's strategy is to simply not hold an election and allow by-elections and defections to achieve the same result  What's the Goverment's majority now down to?

    Russia invades Ukraine

Not much more than usual, which is to say not really. The line about "Russia targetting UK military facilities" is a nothing burger in the extreme. Of course they target our military facilities, they have done since at least 1949! Nothing has changed in that regard. It's not news, therefore...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

It's even worse than just being a generous interpretation of the information available, a big risk for Labour is complacency, people not voting becuase "it's in the bag". By suggesting a hung parliament is possible that could well encourage Labour voters to turn out to make sure they win. The...
