That was pretty unusual to open a new station on the same site, but following such a long period of time without one
Nowhere near as long in time as the original Mills Hill railway station on the border between Middleton and Oldham which closed on 11th August 1842 and it was decided to eventually reopen the station on exactly the same station site on 25th March 1985.....almost 143 years later!!!

It then follows the line of the Ayr and Dalmellington Railway...via Hollybush
It then follows the line of the Ayr and Maybole Junction Railway...viaDalrymple
It then follows the line of the Maybole and Girvan Railway...via Kilkerran
It then follows the line of the Girvan and Portpatrick Junction Railway...via Pinmore
The journey ends at the closed station of New Luce

The first closed station on this journey is Lanark Racecourse.
