Travelling from Cork via Dublin, with an overnight at Dundalk, thence to Belfast and finally Antrim (nearest station to Belfast International Airport).

One of our party is a last minute joinee and has left it too late to get free staff coupons. He will, however, be entitled to a FIP discounted ticket at 75% reduction. Can he book one ticket from Cork to Antrim (including an overnight stop over)? And roughly, if so, how much would it cost?

Otherwise, I suspect a Cork to Dundalk for day one followed by a Dundalk to Antrim for day two.

TIA.

Probably Cork to Dundalk.(c €12) Day 2 Dundalk to Antrim. I not sure NIR/IR gave a break of journey arrangement like we have in England. Dundalk to Belfast €2, Belfast to Antrim £2. You might just want to pick up the airport bus c £8.50 from Belfast Great Victoria Street as it is a regular & efficient service. Taxi to airport from Antrim for 3/4 people would probably be best value if you book in advance.

A journey from Dundalk to Belfast will take you to Belfast Lanyon Place station. That is not where the airport bus goes from. It goes from the Europa bus station (by Gt Victoria St station), so you would need to factor that into the travel arrangements. Normally you could get there by train from Lanyon Place to Gt Victoria St but GVS is closing permanently on 10th May pending the opening of the new Grand Central station in the autumn. After 10th May you will really need a taxi from Lanyon Place to the Europa, if you want the airport bus. So train through to Antrim might be a smoother option in this particular case.

Bus service from Antrim rail & bus station to the airport is once an hour and takes 10 minutes. Mostly departing 25 mins past the hour. Service no 109 which usually goes on to Lisburn. Link here:

Taxi from Antrim station to the airport can be booked with Regency cabs 028 94466666.

You won't be able to buy a Cork-Belfast ticket and break your journey overnight.
You will need to get a Cork-Dundalk and Dundalk-Belfast.
If you are using a FIP card you get your tickets from the booking office on the day you are travelling. You can't book them online. Be aware however that the discount you get is on the normal full fare NOT the online fare.
For example Dundalk to Belfast full fare is €15.20 (online is €8.19) so you get 75% discount on the €15.20 fare.
You can only buy tickets from the ROI to Newry, Lisburn, Portadown & Belfast now.
I estimate the Cork to Dundalk full fare to be around €65 before any discount.

If you buy a Cork - Dundalk ticket does that include travel on the Luas between stations in Dublin or do you have to buy a separate ticket for that at the Luas stop (or use a Leap card)?

Tickets issued by Irish Rail include the transfer between Connolly and Heuston station.

Tickets issued by NI Railways do not include the transfer between Connolly and Heuston, and this must be paid for separately. The fare is €1.30 each way if paid with a Leap Card, paper tickets cost €1.70 single and €3.00 day return.
