England can be practically guaranteed to continue with their ultra-aggressive approach in the summer against the West Indies and Sri Lanka. Two home series where whoever is selected for the batting really should cash in.Bazball dead and buried?

Jimmy should without a doubt be allowed to get the 708, but not much more unless he comes back even better, This summer is an opportunity to largely give chances to younger pacers.I'm glad that Anderson reached 700, though he had to take one of the two remaining in India's first innings as, for sure, they weren't going to need a second. He'll never reach 801, though should overtake Warne if picked for this summer's home tests. Maybe he should just retire gracefully, as Broad did, and settle into a lucrative media career.
Just looked in at 02:55 this morning and after 103 overs, New Zealand had lost three more wickets and were 345-6, a lead of 251 runs with four wickets remaining. At lunch on the 3rd day, the black caps were 243-3 in their second innings, a lead of 149.
The series result was hardly a surprise. From a BBC report, "India last lost a home series in 2012 and have now won 17 in a row in the country, losing just four Tests.". It was always a huge task for England to overcome that.Bazball dead and buried?
Oz finished the day on 77-4, with two days left to get 202.
Smithy is still struggling as an opener, he was out for 9 in the 2nd innings & 11 in the first.
Was it a similar overseas related ailment that afflicted Marcus Trescothick some years ago?Harry Brook has withdrawn from the IPL after the death of his grandmother to prioritise his mental wellbeing.
Cummins not captain any longer? Agree about Carey's match - Broad's comment that he'd only be remembered for the Bairstow incident looks ever more untrue.Oz finished the day on 77-4, with two days left to get 202.

Oz showed again why they are the best Test team @ the moment, beating N.Z. by 3 wickets to go 2-0 up.
Captain Alex Carey led the way being 98 Not Out in addition to the 10 catches he took (5 in each innings). Mitchell Marsh scored 80 and Pat Cummins was 32 Not Out.
Pitch issue or skill issue?Mens International T20 match
Scotland ... 94 all out (19.4 overs)
They were 41-1 at one stage.
UAE ... 62 all out (15.2 overs)
They were 19-7 at one stage
Their first couple of home matches have been transferred to Kidderminster, so they're not due to be playing at Worcester well into May. The club nas apparently accepted the inevitable and is looking for an alternative venue in or near the city. I daresay, like Hampshire in Southampton, it will have to be constructed from new.Do the Worcestershire cricket county team have net practice some days and water polo practice on other days, so they can still play one sport if the weather rules out the other one?
He's now passed 300!County Championship..Division Two
Sam Northeast of Glamorgan seems to have taken a liking to the Middlesex bowling and the last time that I looked in on the game, he was 242 not out (32 x 4) with Glamorgan at 453-3.
Sam Northeast now on 333 not out (6 x 6 and 36 x 4) and is in an unbroken stand of 291 with Colin Ingram now on 126 not out (4 x 6 and 11 x 4) with Glamorgan on 612-3.He's now passed 300!
Indeed - beats the previous high of 333 by Graham Gooch against India in July 1990. Also only the 6th triple century scored at Lords in first class cricketGlamorgan declare on 620-3. Northeast 335 mot out. A record score for Lords I believe.
This is comparing apples with oranges. Gooch’s innings was one of the finest seen at Lords against far superior opposition.Indeed - beats the previous high of 333 by Graham Gooch against India in July 1990.
Don't forget Gooch scored another 123 in the second innings too. His appetite for runs was insatiable - he always played in Essex's traditional opening game against Cambridge University and often scored a century in it. I doubt Northeast will beat his match total of 456 runs, if only because he's unlikely to get a meaningful opportunity to bat again.Gooch's was in a Test Match not a season opener in Division Two of a Mickey Mouse league.
I saw him bat in three championship matches against my team Kent, one at Ilford and two at Dartford, and he scored a century in each match. Wish we'd had him on our team!I saw him get 198 not out @ Hove in a Benson & Hedges (55 overs game), in the early 80's, the only reason he didn't get a double hundred was he was helping his Captain Keith Fletcher get to his 100.
Needless to say Essex won the match.
I don't think @SteveHFC was saying that Northeast's innings was necessarily better than Gooch's - as you say, it was against far superior opposition, and I think the current score renders the kind of pitch at Lord's this week fairly obvious! But, statistically speaking, it is, whichever way you cut it, the highest score in a first-class game at Lord's, irrespective of the County Championship's merits compared to Tests. This is comparing apples with oranges. Gooch’s innings was one of the finest seen at Lords against far superior opposition.
