A much better time over the past 7 days with 100% coverage of Mk4 booked workings, and all 25 running diagrams were 5 car sets too.

Tomorrow should see the return of long term out of use 67020 which is planned out with HD02 on the 04:54 from Crewe and also HD05 returning to the fray as a 4 car which should come out on the 10:52 from Cardiff.

There's a mostly full set of diagrams planned for next week too, not quite as good as last week as due to HD06 unusually having an exam in Holyhead, the 05:30 from Holyhead on Monday and 17:14 from Cardiff on Wednesday will be units to swap HD06 out and back in again. HD01 and HD03 are both at Crewe on exams but the rest of the fleet should be available all week.

That’s good going! A much needed improvement for sure.

Also in good news it seems that the majority of the 5th diagram was covered by 3 car 197’s one day it looks like half was covered by a 2 car and then a 4car for the 2nd half (which included the notoriously busy 18:30 departure from Manchester).

So that leaves HD05 as the only set remaining to have the extra car fitted and once that is completed, it should, in theory, mean that the seven sets then slot into a regular pattern of exams that (barring loco issues) should avoid multiple sets on exam at the same time to the extent that the diagrams can’t be covered?

Yes that's correct HD05 is the only one left as a 4 car.
The B exams which were the one that was done when the 5th car was added are now on their next rotation with no real impact on availability now they're spread better and loco availability is much much better than it was with a few which were long time out of use now back in service, 017 being the exception.
Certainly a much better position than has been the case for a long while. In general it does seem that the corner has been turned, Hopefully not jinxed it now and it all comes crashing back down!!

It’ll be a good day when all 5 diagrams are covered by 5 coach MK4’s.

Now, next week will see total failure of units and we’ll be back to square 1

Morning all,

Are the following trains "booked" as a cl.67+MkIV
Saturdays (18/05/24)
1W60 Carmarthan to Manchester
(I'll be on between Hereford and Crewe)

Bank Holidays Mondays (27/05/2024)
1W61 Cardiff Central to Crewe
(I'll be on between Cardiff Central to Newport(South Wales))

Just thinking of a couple trips.
If a cl.67+MkIV would be a bonus but not essential.

Thanks in advance,

No to both, unfortunately. They don’t operate west of Swansea, so anything from Carmarthen etc is a no go from the get go.

1W61 is part of the “missing diagram” at the minute during the week and is booked 197.

Thanks. The fact they aren't, won't affect plans but there was always a hope.
