Donald Stirling, who I think is on here, has posted an excellent set of pictures from today HERE. They appear to be making great progress.

If you haven't done so, it's worth clicking on until you come to I think the 15th picture - the statue of the soldier on the war memorial apparently watching the demolition.

I’d imagine it’ll take a while to get things moving back to Stranraer after the line reopens, because by now surely crew competency and knowledge on the route would’ve lapsed?
If it hasn't already, it certainly will have by the time the works are finished and the infrastructure in/around the station is sorted out. August/September for the Ayr-Stranraer line seeing another passenger train is honestly being a tad generous, given how the dates for the completion of the Ayr demo works have (unsurprisingly) continued to slip further and further back. October seems more likely to me before the pre-fire service levels is restored.

According to The Natiobal (paywall) demolition has stopped because the owner has appeared and is taking the Council to Court.

Non-paywalled version from the Ayr Advertiser HERE. I, for one, hope that the Court of Session will advise Mr. Ung to carry out a physically impossible act with his court action.

Continued safety work ie demolition has been authorised by the Court.

A few new pictures appeared over on Facebook in the “Scottish Railways (Past and Present)” group earlier this week. Appears that they’re now at a point of hand demolition only.

They're demolishing by hand because they're working near the canopy. They expect to return to machinery shortly.

*Unofficial* word is that the current Ayr-Prestwick shuttle will be replaced by buses as of Sunday, presumably to facilitate NR getting the station back into shape - it’s also being unofficially reported that normal service will resume as of June 17.

Do you know if that would that include services down to Stranraer, or will that take longer due to crew needing to redo training for that line since it's been shut for so long?

The “normal service” quoted included services to Stranraer. Again, this is all *unofficial* at this time. I would imagine that they would get route refreshing going as soon as reasonably possible once access is restored.

The last arrival on Saturday night is not shown as leaving Ayr.

Could it remain there and be moved through platform 4 for route refresher training, and be stabled at Stranraer?

Out of interest, National Rail shows buses only for Ayr-Prestwick Town from Monday onwards and won’t let me check anything after June 16. (Edit): ScotRail is now advising buses only from Monday.
