After 60 years of service, it's time to retire. Slowly but surely, the time of the BLS Re425 “Bruneli” (“Brownie”) is ending. A short film shows once again the inner workings and function of the locomotive. Interesting also for me, who grew up on the “competition”, the SBB Re420. Despite the numerous differences in the electrical design, the basis is remarkably similar. The Re425 was designed a little more focus on the usable tractive effort on the Lötschberg line, while the SBB Re420 was a little more modern concept for the driver in mind and with a slightly higher degree of automation.
