INFORMATION

The original station at Treeton opened on 6th April 1841 and was closed on 2nd January 1843. When, many years later, the decision was made to open a new station, the view was that the original station site should be used. That station was opened on 1st October 1884 (41 years after the original station was closed) and that too was closed on 29th October 1951.

Treeton is shown on Rule 4 as an example of stations being reopened on original station sites.

That was pretty unusual to open a new station on the same site, but following such a long period of time without one
